Our Team

Our Team

At our home, we view residents, staff, and volunteers as being one family.

All staff and volunteers will interact with residents and so, whatever their role, they each receive dementia awareness training. Continual professional development is encouraged, and staff receive regular training. We are also a real living wage employer.

Our dedicated, attentive staff and friendly volunteers provide excellent standards of assistance and support making our home a happy place to live. Meet some of our team:

Julie King

General Manager

Read Profile

My name is Julie and I have been working for the Abbeyfield Loughborough Society since February 2000, firstly in the role of Care Co-ordinator and then as General Manager. Previously I trained and worked within the NHS as a Registered General Nurse at QMC in Nottingham and have also had experience working within the private care sector. I have seen many changes within the care sector and here at Abbeyfield over the last 20 years, and the challenges that Covid has brought are testing us all. However, we have a strong and dedicated team who are all demonstrating their commitment to our residents, and I am proud to be part of that team. We are also at the start of a new development to provide a further 33 bedded dementia unit, which is both exciting and challenging.

My name is Vicki, I have been working in care for 23 years now and still enjoy my work

I started as a volunteer many years ago whilst studying for my Honours Degree in Health and Social care and have worked my way into management over the years. I came to work at Abbeyfield in April 2022 and have been welcomed by the fantastic team here. I have personal experience of dementia care as my own mother is living with dementia and I understand how difficult this time can be for families. As a Registered Manager within a dementia  care home my aim is to ensure that quality care is provided that enables individuals living with dementia to continue to enjoy life and maintain their independence in a safe environment, my personal experience of dementia is what makes me passionate and determined to achieve this.

I have two grown up sons whom I am very proud of and three beautiful grandchildren who are growing up way too fast. In my spare time I enjoy socialising with family and friends, relaxing on beautiful beaches, gardening and walking my two Labradors Stanley and Peggy.

My name is Nicola and I have only just recently joined the team here at the Abbeyfield in the summer of 2022. My previous employment and job specialities lie within the business marketing industry, however after having my 2 children I felt I wanted to go into something more rewarding and care setting based. I have a Golden Retriever called Nala who keeps us all on our toes, alongside my daughter Imogen and son Elliott. I feel I have joined the Abbeyfield at a fantastic time as it ventures onto a new chapter and provides exciting opportunities for residents and their families in the near future. I look forward to getting to know you all.

I have worked in care for over 20 years. For me, Abbeyfield is the best I have worked in. The reason for this is the home cares about the residents meeting their needs and given the best care possible. The residents are respected, as are the staff, and it’s easy to speak with management. There’s always something going on within the home and welcome also family and friends of the residents.

Staff Testimonials

I have worked at Abbeyfield for 6 months, I feel the management and senior staff are friendly and approachable. I have been given the chance to undertake all relevant training and I’ve been given support when I’ve needed it. I really enjoy working here at Abbeyfield and enjoy coming to work.
